The last day we can enjoy the magnificent Lofoten surroundings, and after three days of rain, we are seeing the sun intermittently today. This immediately makes the view a lot more beautiful. But if you think you can go for a stroll in the sun, you'll be disappointed. Within a few minutes, the weather changes from calm and sunny to hard, cold wind and rain. After a half-hour walk, we decide to go to the communal area and sit by the fireplace. This gives Dad the opportunity to try the house lasagne, and actually, a day indoors like this is quite nice. He indicates he's overwhelmed by the view of the Lofoten, but that the winter weather makes the roads difficult to navigate, and I can agree with that. We both have dodgy knees, which can be quite a problem sometimes. In hindsight, we should have brought snowshoes for better grip. All in all, it was a wonderful trip, during which we only skipped the snow hike, and we certainly don't regret that. Highlight of the trip: the two boat trips through the fjords and to the sea eagles. Lowlight: the frequent rain and heavy cloud cover, making it feel as though you're walking directly under the cloud ceiling. Tomorrow morning, we'll be picked up at 08:30, drive three hours to the airport, fly for three hours to Brussels, and then drive for another three hours home. This concludes a wonderful trip.
