Norway

The time has come early in the morning; at 66°33'51''N we cross the Arctic Circle, an imaginary line between Nesna and Ørnes, indicated by the model of the globe on a small island. The Lofoten Islands quietly emerge against the horizon, or Norway in its most natural appearance. In the meantime, the Landegodefjord, Helligvær and Vestfjord are behind us…

Today we get up early again and after an extensive, but not fully consumed breakfast, we go outside for the breathtaking view. Just after half past eight we pass the Arctic Circle (approximately 66°34′ or 66.56° N and S). You could take a guess at exactly what time the ship would cross this line. The winner was honored by Neptunus. Everyone also received a certificate for crossing the Arctic Circle. You never know how or where such a certificate will come in handy. Starting last night and continuing through the night, the ship made 4 short stops at Rørvik, Brønnøysund, Sandnessjøen and Nesna of up to 15 minutes each. It was quite a job to park this ship, but we didn't notice anything. This morning upon arrival in the harbor of Ørnes we passed a fishing boat with a whole group of seagulls (whats new), but while peering through her binoculars Hilde also spotted 3 sea eagles. Together with the seagulls they hung behind the fishing boat. Their loot was eaten on a steep slope under the trees. We arrived in Bodø around 1 p.m., where we stayed a little longer and you could take a walk along the quay. A lot of people did that, but we had a very relaxed lunch and read something. At 3.30 pm we cast off and moved on to the next town of Stamsund. On the way to Stamsund we passed the Landegode lighthouse from 1901 at the setting sun. That's like being lucky. In any case, there are many lighthouses here that stand on the rocks in the dangerous waters along the Norwegian coast. Nowadays there are more than 60. Now that we are sailing further north, the chance of seeing the Northern Lights is also greater. We keep an eye on various apps that predict the chance of the Northern Lights. According to the tour guide, it all looks very favorable for us. So tonight after dinner we'll dress warmly and head outside (fingers crossed).
